Read Michael Walsh’s March 1st article in CT Insider to learn more about the Town of West Hartford’s proposed May 2023 resurfacing of a 0.7-mile section of Boulevard, between Mountain Road and Riggs Avenue, which currently has 12-foot car lanes and parking on both sides. Walsh writes:
The plan “would eliminate the parking lane on the south side of the road, slim the travel lanes down to 10 feet in each direction and construct a two-way cycle track on the south side of the street while maintaining parking on the north side of the street.” According to the Town Engineer, “We’d have a 2-foot buffer and then a cycle track, so we’d have both directions of cycling, 5-feet wide lanes for bicyclists in each direction along that south curb.” But current plans “don’t include protections for bike lanes, which is a frequent ask in town from bike riders.”
The Town will present its plan for review by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Commission at its next meeting, Monday March 13th, 7pm at the Elmwood Community Center.
