Thanks to Tucker Salls from Transport Hartford for leading the July 7th Walk Audit along New Park Avenue in West Hartford. Joining us was Jim Brennan (middle), the Town of West Hartford’s engineer for the New Park Avenue Complete Streets Project, and several advocates for safer pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure. Walking both sides of this busy four-lane road gave us first-hand experience of the speeding traffic and unsafe crosswalks, as well as a better sense of how the proposed road diet and bike lanes might calm traffic and improve the quality of life for residents.
