Here’s our route for Saturday Aug 27th. We’ll start in Bushnell Park near the carousel and ride north to Riverside Park, from there we’ll take the riverfront bike path near Colt Park and ride back to Frog Hollow for some refreshments at Red Rock Tavern (or Little River Restoratives if you’re into fancy cocktails). Here’s a link to the Strava route where you can also download the file for your fancy bike computers. https://www.strava.com/routes/2994657452481871766
UPDATED: Hartford Bike Party! FAQ
What is a bike party?
A bike party is a party on bikes. It’s whatever we want it to be. It’s a 6-8 mile mass ride around the Hartford area that gives us a chance to all ride together, socialize and be outside.
Do you follow traffic rules?
Yes. We ride as a group and we follow local and state cycling laws. Remember, we are traffic too! Safety is a priority for Bike Party and there is safety in our numbers. We ride as a group, we stop at stop signs and lights as a group, and we’ll arrive at the end as a group. Find more info on state bike laws here. https://bikeleague.org/StateBikeLaws
What should I bring?
Definitely a bike. We also encourage everyone to wear a helmet and bring lights as it’s starting to get dark earlier. The ride will end at a place we can all gather and socialize so bring a lock if you plan on hanging out. Water and some basic bike tools (just in case) wouldn’t hurt either.
Is it open to everyone?
Yes! We want everyone to be able to ride. This is a no drop ride so no one gets left behind. Keep in mind this is a ride on public streets and we’ll be riding along with traffic. So we ask that you be comfortable sharing the road with cars and can complete the roughly 6.5 mile ride, with some modest hills at about a 10mph pace.
Will this ride be a loop?
No. The party doesn’t stop when the ride ends. We’ll end each ride at a different spot for us to gather and socialize. We’ll try to make the end point somewhere near the start but there is no organized ride back to the start and everyone will be responsible for getting home. We’d recommend finding some other folks to ride home in small groups with.
Can I drive to the ride?
If you can’t bike to the start there’s plenty of parking all over Hartford. Keep in mind it might be easier to park near the end of the ride too.
Is the ride kid friendly?
Hartford Bike Party is open to anyone but keep in mind we’ll be riding in the evening and the ride is geared towards adults.
