CT DOT spokesperson Josh Morgan acknowledges what recent reports have shown: “Within the CTtransit Hartford Division service area, we’ve identified more than 4,300 stops, most of which are signs and poles.”
DiSalvo reports problems in several areas, and mentions that several bus riders “identified the New Britain Avenue and Ridgewood Road bus stop in West Hartford as particularly troublesome. One rider said it was ‘terrifying to disembark there’ because of its proximity to the highway exit.”
If you’re not familiar with the location described above, see this Google Map link of the bus stop on the north side of New Britain Avenue at Ridgewood Road — on the edge of EIGHT LANES of high-speed traffic — where riders get off the bus to take a dangerous walk to work or shop at several Corbins Corner businesses, such as Shake Shack and REI. #WeHaCanDoBetter
