Biking & Birding in Wethersfield, Sat June 22nd AM

Please register online for our free Biking and Birding in Wethersfield ride, co-sponsored by Bike West Hartford.

Meet up Saturday June 22nd 2024 at 8:30am at Heirloom Market, 263 Main Street, Wethersfield CT. After brief introductions and a safety check, we roll out by 8:40am, and return to the same location about an hour later.

Bring any type of bicycle in good condition, a bike helmet, bike lock, and a water bottle (we’re expecting hot weather!) Also recommended: bring binoculars if you have them, download the free Merlin bird identification app for your smartphone, and bring money if you wish to buy food or beverages.

Our ride will be led by Allison! We plan a short 3-mile loop to two nearby birding locations. First, we’ll bike to the Spring Street Pond to see mostly geese but maybe some other birds too (hopefully). Next, we’ll bike to the Wood Parcel, where we’re likely to see red-winged blackbirds, common yellowthroats, red-bellied woodpeckers, tree swallows, gray catbird, blue-gray gnatcatcher, and perhaps the elusive green heron. Finally, back to Heirloom Market to have a cup of coffee. For questions about the ride, contact BikeWestHartfordInc@gmail.com
