See news reports from WFSB-TV, Bristol Press, and CT Insider. This is the 36th pedestrian/cyclist fatality in Connecticut so far in 2022. Read their alert and pressure public officials to act now! Thomas and Kerri write:
Action Alert: Early this morning in Bristol by the entrance to an amusement park and major employer, a driver struck and killed a pedestrian. There are no painted crosswalks or pedestrian lights in this area. Sidewalk is sporadic. The speed limit is 40mph. This is the 36th pedestrian/cyclist fatality in Connecticut this year. We need to let local officials and DOT that it is not acceptable:
Tell, in your own words:
– This is not acceptable that there is no infrastructure for pedestrians, this was totally preventable had there been adequate pedestrian infrastructure
– Ask town to request DOT to build sidewalks, to reduce speed, add lighting, and build speed table for pedestrian crosswalks on the state road CT 229
– Call for the town to apply to State DOT Connectivity Grant to fund proper pedestrian infrastructures: https://portal.ct.gov/DOT/PP_Intermodal/CTConnectivity/CT-Connectivity-CCGP
